New Photo Idea: Strawberry Heart Inspired by Fresh Grocery Store Strawberries

Posted by Catherine and the Paws-itive Pets on September 11, 2015 at 2:05 AM Comments comments (0)

Dear Sprinkle Goodness Reader,

Fresh strawberries. They looked so nice in the grocery store that I wanted to take a photo of them.

So Matt, my husband, bought the strawberries for me. He likes supporting my creative ideas even though I was happy to buy the strawberries myself. But I am grateful of how he encourages my creativity.

One of the strawberries was shaped like a heart and I wanted to do something special with it.

Here is my best "heart-shape" photo result…

The image represents loving strawberries as a favourite fruit or loving the healthiness of strawberries.

My “Strawberry Heart” photo is now available as a stock photo here. I hope this image helps you with your projects – or inspires photo ideas for you.

If it does, please do share in the Comments section (below). Thanks!

Sincerely,

Catherine

U.S. Pet Travel Opportunity in the South Rim of the Grand Canyon

Posted by Catherine and the Paws-itive Pets on September 10, 2015 at 10:50 PM Comments comments (1)

Dear Sprinkle Goodness Reader,

It’s Rocky, the Paws-itive Beagle, dreaming of U.S. travel. Where would you like to travel with your doggies in the United States? If I could travel to two places in the U.S. they would be…

• To see the statue of Balto, the heroic sled dog, in New York City’s Central Park.

• To go to Philadelphia and jump up and down, with my mommy Catherine, beside The Rocky Statue. (Catherine is a fan of the Rocky film series starring Sylvester Stallone. Her favourite one though is the first Rocky movie.)

Okay, these are places Catherine would LOVE to go to with Matt, me, Daisey and our kitties. But I’m happy to go wherever Catherine goes.

Today however, Catherine discovered a third place to go in the U.S. from GoPetFriendly.com. It is a cool pet travel opportunity in the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. I’ll let the doggy owners who travelled there with their dogs tell you all about it right here

Sincerely,

Rocky, the Paws-itive Beagle

Pet Travel Lessons from Rocky's Pillow De-Fluffing Adventure

Posted by Catherine and the Paws-itive Pets on August 4, 2015 at 1:00 AM Comments comments (0)

Dear Sprinkle Goodness Reader,

Feathers from a pillow … everywhere.

Rocky, our beagle sat looking at us. Happily … Innocently …

“You guys are back! Look what I did when you were gone!” were his thoughts (it seemed).

Or perhaps he was thinking, “Hey guys, Daisey and I wanted to go with you. And since you didn’t take us, well, I de-fluffed this feather pillow!”

It was funny. But a bit uncomfortable, too.

You see, we weren’t at our home. We were at Matt’s parents’ home. We had been there most of the week taking care of their farm, while they were on holiday.

It was their pillow. And, Matt’s parents arrived (sooner than expected from their vacation) and saw what happened – the de-fluffed feather pillow -- before we got back from town.

We had only stepped out for a few hours or so.

We thought our beagles were fine. They were safe inside. They had the freedom to explore or get comfy on the sofa.

But this was where we learned our lesson. Here are three tips I learned from Rocky’s pillow-de-fluffing adventure – to help you travel better with pets – so both you and your pets can have a fun adventure, together.

From My Copywriting Archives: Name Your Mission So You Can Claim It

Posted by Catherine and the Paws-itive Pets on July 2, 2015 at 5:45 PM Comments comments (0)

***Originally published in the online e-newsletter, THE COPY PROTÉGÉ, Issue #118***

***Updated July 28, 2016***

Dear Sprinkle Goodness Reader,

This one is from my copywriting archives. My copywriting career was successfully started when I worked with self-help publisher, Nightingale-Conant. I am now a publisher myself. And I am grateful for all I learned while being a freelance copywriter on Nightingale-Conant's team. Here is what I wrote about naming your mission -- in hopes it can help you focus and achieve your goals as a writer, too...

****************************** FROM THE ARCHIVES *******************************

One of the benefits of working with Nightingale-Conant is the access I get to all their products – the content is as life-changing for me as it is to my target prospect.

But in addition to products, they also offer some very helpful free services. One of them is their mission statement builder – and I highly recommend you give it a try.

Writing a mission statement is one of the most powerful ways I know to clarify your goals and find out what you truly hope to achieve.

Start by going to: http://hg.nightingale.com/personal-mission-statement/ This is where you'll find a free Mission Statement builder. It will take around five minutes to walk through the questions. But it's time well invested. Why? It helps you clarify so you can get focused and also attract what you want out of life!

Once you’ve developed your statement, use it! It should act as a guiding light to make better decisions. For example, my mission statement stated I wanted $5K projects. From here, I thought, "What kinds of projects can give me this kind of fee? And who do I ‘really’ want to write for?"

For me, I LOVE self-help books, courses and audio program learning. I love writing for publishers that produce this kind of content. So I’ve decided to make a really defined niche for myself within the self-improvement market.

My new business card states — "Publishers! Sell More Books, Courses or Audio Programs! I specialize in writing sales-boosting direct mail kits and web/email promotions for the self-improvement market".

That’s really specific. It identifies the type of projects I’ll accept (all of which suggest a high fee). Maybe more important, it helps me to filter out the projects I don’t want. If a company who sells vitamins contacts me, I know right away, that’s not my ideal client. I "have" to say no to them no matter how appealing they are. Why? Because they’re not my target market.

Does this mean I have lost some work? Yes it does. A fundraising client was referred to me, and I had to refer them back to AWAI. But, it’s okay. I said no "on purpose" because I’m on a mission!

Creating your own mission will move you closer to your goals very quickly. It eliminates all the second-guessing most new copywriters go through. And it gives you the kind of laser-like focus that leads to success.

******************************************************************************************************************

Sincerely,

Catherine

P.S.: In case you're wondering -- yes, I did receive $5K for a project, and that client kept sending me work throughout the years. I even got an amazing retainer opportunity with this client that kept me busy with work each month throughout most of 2013. I asked to change it though. Why? My heart yearned for a change -- to publish my own ideas, and to take photos and publish ideas that help "sprinkle goodness" in our world. In addition to www.SprinkleGoodness.com, I also publish www.StockImageIdeas.com

Quick Copy Tip: Work Backwards When You're Overwhelmed

Posted by Catherine and the Paws-itive Pets on July 2, 2015 at 5:40 PM Comments comments (0)

***Originally published in the online e-newsletter, THE COPY PROTÉGÉ, Issue #6***

Dear Sprinkle Goodness Reader,

This one is a copywriting tip from my archives. My career was started writing for the self-help market. If by chance you're interested in writing for the self-help market (which consists largely of books and audio programs), I hope this quick copy tip helps you.

Ready? Here it is...

*************************************** FROM THE ARCHIVES ********************************************

When you work on a self-help product, you have access to words. Lots and lots of words. Some of your best selling ideas can be found in the first chapter or first session in an audio program. Why? The author is enticing and convincing the reader or listener to continue on with their product... which makes it perfect material for your copy.

The problem? You can spend an entire day or two uncovering those selling ideas and piecing it together in your copy. And, time is ticking.

You may feel like you're falling behind, even though you're not. But the overwhelming feeling kicks in. You see all those other chapters (2--10). It looks like a mountain of information... overwhelm gets the best of you and your mind goes blank.

When that happens, work backwards. Go to the very last chapter or audio session. It will still have good selling ideas you can use in your copy, but about 90% of may not be so useful. Good. You just pulled out 10% good material. You got through it pretty fast. You feel the momentum. You just got through an entire chapter!

Go to chapter 9... then chapter 8... chapter 7... chapter 6... and keep working your way up. Because these chapters don't contain a lot of words you can use in your copy (after all this is the meat of the product--the information people are buying), you can get through it pretty fast.

This information will be good for creating fascinations in your copy though, but basically, when you see that you've gone through chapters 2--10, you'll feel like you've accomplished so much. And, when you're back at chapter 1 again  -- the real good stuff that you can use in your copy -- you'll feel ready to dig in and persevere.

Sincerely,

Catherine

Hurray for Canada: An Opportunity to Share What You Love Most about our Country this Canada Day

Posted by Catherine and the Paws-itive Pets on July 1, 2015 at 12:15 AM Comments comments (0)

Dear Sprinkle Goodness Reader,

Happy Canada Day!!

Will you be celebrating?

If you are, I hope you have safe and fun festivities.

I also wondered if you’d like to share what you love most about Canada.

Here are a few of my favourite things about being Canadian:

1) I often say “eh” at the end of my sentences. It’s apparently a Canadian thing. (Though, not exclusive to Canadian speech, it’s just common for Canadians to use it, especially me! I usually use “eh” at the end of my sentence to encourage a reply.)

2) I love the fact that we’re neighbors to the U.S. I think the coolest spot in Ontario is the Niagara Falls region. I find it fascinating that I’m standing on Canadian ground yet just across the water is America’s state of New York. How awesome!

3) I grew up in the Muskoka region in Ontario. Muskoka was first (first!!) on the list out of 10 Best Summer Trips in 2011 by National Geographic Traveler in 2011. Celebrities come to the Muskoka region, like Tom Hanks, Martin Short, and Kate Hudson. I’ve also seen pictures of actress, Tori Spelling, in our newspaper (back in the summer of 2013). I am fascinated by Hollywood, so knowing “famous people” visit the Muskoka region does intrigue me.

Please tell me what you think, too, eh!

What do you love best about Canada? You can share in the Comments section (below). Thanks so much!

Sincerely,

Catherine, Publisher of SprinkleGoodness.com

P.S.: Here's a wee groundhog to wish you a Happy Canada Day, too!

Dear Sprinkle Goodness Reader,

I’m so excited…

I turn 10 years old this summer and we’re going to celebrate with a doggy birthday party!!

Have you ever thought of hosting a party for your doggy?

If you answered “Yes”, you’ll be excited to know that Catherine wrote an article for a pet website that explains how to plan a dog birthday party. You can see it here and get five doggy birthday tips and ideas – including a dessert idea that Catherine calls “Paw Print Cupcakes.”

These were the things Catherine learned when she planned Rocky’s 10th birthday party. (Rocky turns 13 this summer.) Now Catherine can use her own tips again to plan “my” celebration.

Hurray! I can’t wait for my special day! I also hope Catherine’s article on celebrating a dog’s birthday helps you plan a special day for your doggy too.

Yellow Daffodil and Paper Letters Inspire Mother's Day Photo

Posted by Catherine and the Paws-itive Pets on May 10, 2015 at 4:05 PM Comments comments (0)

***An article by Angel, our Paws-itive Kitty***

Dear Sprinkle Goodness Reader,

One daffodil and two paper letter “M’s” from a package of die-cut letters create the most unique photo idea for Mother’s Day. (The package of letters was a treasure find from the Dollar Tree store. And the daffodil came from a lovely floral bouquet in Walmart for approximately $5.00.)

The result? The word “Mom,” spelled with the daffodil in the middle to represent the letter “O” in “MoM”. It’s a photo idea Catherine created.

You can see it at the top of this blog entry.

I hope it inspires ideas for your own photography. It’s also available as a stock image here if you’d like to use this photo for Mother’s Day, your blog, designs ideas, and more.

This Pet Website Helps New Dog Owners Prepare for the Responsibilities of Having a Puppy

Posted by Catherine and the Paws-itive Pets on April 7, 2015 at 1:05 PM Comments comments (1)

Dear Sprinkle Goodness Reader,

Sock-chasing. It’s a “doggy sport” I started when I was a young beagle. I still like finding socks and running away with them. Then, Catherine or Matt will chase me, often giggling, as they try to get the socks back.

I keep Catherine and Matt on their toes – even as an older dog. I turn 13 this summer.

I’ve pulled apart and de-fluffed more pillows than I can count. I’ve even chewed apart some of Matt’s van seat when we were on a family adventure together. I’ll tell you more about that pet travel adventure soon.

But today, I tell you about all of this because when you bring a new dog into your life – he or she comes with surprises. I certainly did. But I’m a lucky beagle. I’m loved and I’m part of the family.

But not every dog is so fortunate. Did you know that many people get puppies without fully understanding how much work they really are? According to the pet website New Dog Owners, far too many people “get rid of dogs within weeks of bringing them into their home. This hurts everyone involved and can give that dog issues with getting close to people and even worse, ending up at the pound, just to be put down.”

That’s why New Dog Owners help people stating: “We are here to hopefully help you with the new member of your family and to cut down on how many dogs are given up on and passed from home to home.”

New Dog Owners is a great site where first-time doggy owners can learn what to expect with puppies and how to teach them the rules of the home.

They help people prepare for the responsibilities of a new dog. They give tips to help people through the tough times, as well as tips for day-to-day living such as understanding dog health, which dog treats pet owners like the best, and more. They also try to answer questions that people have and solve common issues.

If you’re a first-time dog owner – or are thinking of getting a puppy, I highly recommend you visit New Dog Owners by clicking here today.

Sincerely,

Rocky, the Paws-itive Beagle

P.S.: Catherine and Matt have articles published on New Dog Owners. You can find Matt’s tips on how to start off on the right paw here on New Dog Owners or you can read Catherine’s articles which includes tips on helping your doggy live long and healthy here.

It’s furry.

The pattern looks like animal prints.

It’s sooo me! It’s sooo Catherine, too.

Catherine found a stylish-looking gift card holder at a great price. What she calls “a treasure find.” But she didn’t see a gift card holder – even though that’s what it technically is.

She saw a stylish way to hold business cards.
